Founder's Statement

Hello! My name is Wanjoo Kim. My family, Cooper (the dog) and I are recent transplants to the city of Tacoma, Washington. We chose Tacoma because of its big little city feel, the vibrant makers community, historical importance and downright beauty. It’s a lovely, engaging corner of the world and we are grateful to have landed here.

PermaWorks™ was founded to develop and manufacture premium home and kitchen accessories. PermaWorks™ is a push back against a consumption culture pliant to built-in obsolescence, half-baked design, and sub-par product functionality.

My heritage serves as the blueprint for the values upon which PermaWorks™ is built. From my Swiss mother, I inherited the uncompromising devotion to engineering integrity and products that hold up to their promise. From my Korean father, I developed a respect for aesthetic restraint and a commitment to conscientious processes and use of our finite resources.

I believe that value is derived through products that serve generations. That is why PermaWorks™ prioritizes local, sustainable materials and iterates for timeless aesthetics.
